Comfort movies are…

  • Entertaining and funny
  • Have likable characters or two likeable romance leads
  • Visually bright, fun, and not bleak
  • Movies without major character death, sexual violence, homophobia, racism, etc.
  • Movies with happy endings
Isn’t any favorite movie a comfort movie?

Every film shares its perspective on life. If it shows you something gray-toned and every character is miserable, it’s telling you life sucks. If you’re like me, you internalize these messages, which takes a toll on your view of life.

The comfort movies I’ve collected don’t have to be your favorite, but they’re movies that build off of famous feel-goods like Robin Hood or Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, which ultimately share implicit optimistic messages about life.
