Troop Beverly Hills (1989)
Troop Beverly Hills is a well-rounded light classic you can watch anytime. If you like Addams Family 2, Clueless, or Babysitters Club you’ll love this movie.
There’s a mix of really witty dialogue and slapstick physical humor. The main character is all about fashion and shopping and learns to apply her smarts to different skills when she’s challenged to be a troop leader for the Beverly Hills girl’s adventure troop. She’s sorta like Elle Woods and Cher, from Legally Blonde and Clueless.
Her daughter is in the troop and is a mature funny kid stuck between her parent’s messy divorce. The troop is infamous for having the worst turnout and camping skills, and another uptight troop leader is determined to keep them down.
Amongst the girls is a child actor, the daughter of a foreign ambassador, a child of a famous athlete, and more. The girls are all hilarious and showcase funny Beverly Hills stereotypes in their own way. Even as they struggle to fit in with the rest of the troops, the children begin to flourish, and the parents become more involved in their children’s lives.
