Howl’s Moving Castle (2004)

Howl’s Moving Castle is a well-known, beloved story about a girl gaining self-confidence through an adventure. It’s also about true love, which sounds cliche, but the love between the main two characters is well-developed and not at all shallow.

This is also a great movie for girls who often feel unnoticed and unlucky in love. Sophie is often pushed aside in her life and treated as plain and unremarkable. Howl is the only one who pays her attention, but this angers the evil witch of the Waste who is obsessed with Howl and she curses Sophie to be in the body of an old woman.

Sophie chases down Howl’s moving castle to find the witch and get the curse reversed. In the meantime, she meets the adorable side characters in the world and travels through different lands.

It’s a heartwarming story about unconditional love and gaining self-love, and the storytelling is very complex and full.
